Art Reflection- Lesson 3

In this art lesson we did something very similar to what we did last lesson and we had 4 different tables again with different materials on each table and for each table it was different pieces of abstract music. On the first table the materials were Ink and black markers and we had to create a piece of art with those materials. I think for that table, I was not able to do that well as I was not that experienced was ink and I did not know how much or how little to use which made some parts of it darker and some parts lighter than the others. The second table had color pencils and water colors and I think I was able to do quite well using those materials as I was able to use many different colors and I was able to create movement around the piece of art and using different shapes and lines and it also had some patterns in it. The third table was with paint and crayons and to me that was my best piece as I was able to make it very well layered and make on part of it stand out which was the heart beat and I was also able to use many different textures by using the paint in different ways and also using all the space I had on the piece of paper. The last table had paints and rulers and that was also one of my best as I was able to learn a new technique where I put the paint on the side of the ruler and put it on the piece of paper really fast to create different textures and make the colors look like it was fading away. I also included a message in the background which was the cancer ribbon and I was also able to create movement through the piece of art by using the different lines. I  think that I did quite well in this activity and I was able to improve a lot from last time and create much better abstract pieces of art listening to abstract music in a limited amount of time.

Art Reflection - Lesson 2

In this art lesson we were listening to different pieces of abstract music in the class that the teacher played and there were four different tables. For each different table there were different materials to draw our pieces of art and for each different table there were different pieces of music. So, in the end we had to have four different pieces of art with different mediums to suit the music we heard. I feel like the pieces of art that I did were quite abstract and I was able to use the different  well to put it together and make it look good with using the elements and principles of art. The elements that I used were having different lines and shapes and different colors as well to match the music and the principles that I used were Rhythm, patterns and movement. By having different shapes and colors the viewer is able to move around the art and some of the colors and lines were related to make patterns so the viewer can recognize things and not get confused by seeing different things all the time. The first table had colored papers, glue and scissors and we had to cut the paper out into different shapes to make a piece of art either 3-D or 2-D and I chose to mix it up and in the end it looked quite good and quite abstract. The second table had crayons which I was able to us very well to create many different shapes and contrasts and use a mixture of colors to make the final piece of art full of different things to make it look good and attractive to the eye. The third table which was the table I did best at was with paint and I was able to use different marks and strokes and different pressure to creat a smooth and full of movement piece of art which looked really good in the end and was one of the best. The last table was with color pencils and that was not as easy as I expected and especially because of the song having words and a completely different rhythm it made me confused but in the end it was full of different lines and patterns which stood out along with different layers darker and lighter which made it better. For this activity, from the teacher I received a substantial which is 5-6 going to excellent 7-8 and I found the activity quite fun and with more practice and more experimenting I could do much better in this timed activity to be better at abstract art as well as time management.

Reflection- Art Lesson 1:

In our first lesson of Art we were talking about the sound of art which is the topic for the term and we were talking about what we think of when we hear that phrase and what are the key elements involved in it. We then went on to doing our first task of the term for art which was our title page and we were listening to different pieces of abstract music to come up with ideas for our own art. We then started doing our plan which involved us folding our piece of paper into four different sides and coming up with different ideas in each of them and then at the end to put the plan together to create our final piece of art. With the different pieces of music we heard, I could hear many different things, some of the pieces were peaceful while some of the others were quite fast and had an abstract beat put into it.  For my idea, since there were different kinds of music, I thought that I would have to different themes put into one piece of art where one would be a peaceful side and one would be more of a fast and rock genre. For our title page we had to include things like the key concept, statement of inquiry, global context and obviously the title so we had to fit that into the piece of art into some way. As we were discussing the key elements in the class to make a perfect piece of art, some of the things mentioned were color and patterns and making it look engaging to the eye so I though that I would include some of those elements and make my art look as good as possible. I think that the first lesson of art was quite productive and I was able to learn quite a lot about abstract art elements and what makes it really good.

Art- Title Page Reflection

In our first lesson of art we started to create our own title page for our art book and we started to listen to different pieces of abstract music to create different pictures in our head and apply it onto a rough piece of paper. For me the different abstract music reminded me of two different things which were a more peaceful side of things and a more fast and heavy/rock side of things. That is why in my final piece of art I divided the page in half and the bottom half is the peaceful side and the top half is the rock side. In my piece of art I used a lot of different shapes and colors and there was also a lot of movement around the entire piece of art as the person looking at it would be looking at all the different things that are there. I was also able to fit the information and the title into the art very well  and also making sure to include one instrument and musical notes so I was able to follow the instructions. I think for my first piece of art, I did quite well as I was able to include a lot of elements like space, textures, line and color and also principles like balance, pattern, emphasis and a lot of movement. To improve I could have made the piece of art more layered and also added in more color into the background of the art to make it look even better!

Haunted House Photos

Haunted House Photo 1- Opening the haunted fridge in the attic:
In this photo, I am opening the fridge again to show Kushi that nothing happens when you open it as she got trapped inside it when she opened it and I was looking away at that point. Aman and Amr are the door handles and Prachi, Yuki and Aamnah are the top of the fridge and they use different levels like the blocks to make the fridge look higher. With all of them together it actually looks like you are opening a fridge.

Haunted House Photo 2- Pulling the sheet of the garden ornaments:

In this photo, I am pulling the sheet off the garden ornaments in the garden to show Kushi all the beautiful and antique garden ornaments that are in the house and what she can use. Some of them are
sitting on the floor and some of the are sitting on block and some are inside the blocks to show different levels and to show that they are bigger and that some of them have been left their for a really long time as it is an old house.

Haunted House Photo 3- Kushi seeing the old antique statues moving:

In this photo, I have my back turned to the statues in the attic and all of a sudden they start moving as Kushi is looking at it and she is so shocked with what she has seen and starts to scream as it happens. The statues are all different and they are all sat in different positions and areas of the stage to make it look more realistic and more scary.
