Drawing Musical Instruments

In the art lesson we had to draw musical instruments and I drew a guitar and a piano. I think I did quite well in drawing the guitar as I was able to include quite a lot of detail into it as possible like the strings and bottom piece that the strings were attached to. I think I could have done better with the guitar if I made shadows of the guitar next to it and also if I made the shape the same on both the sides because one side is more curvy than the other. I could have also improved the band that is attached to it and make it look more realistic. I could have also made the guitar more 3-D to make it look more real as well. The piano was not the full piano that I drew and it was just the keys on the piano. I think I did quite well with the shape of the piano but I could have made the lines of the keys less curvy and also make the black keys more in proportion as some of the are different shapes. I could have also drawn the entire piano with the outside as well to make it look better and more realistic and I think that the notes on the outside makes it look like it is being played.

Art Reflection- Lesson 3

In this art lesson we did something very similar to what we did last lesson and we had 4 different tables again with different materials on each table and for each table it was different pieces of abstract music. On the first table the materials were Ink and black markers and we had to create a piece of art with those materials. I think for that table, I was not able to do that well as I was not that experienced was ink and I did not know how much or how little to use which made some parts of it darker and some parts lighter than the others. The second table had color pencils and water colors and I think I was able to do quite well using those materials as I was able to use many different colors and I was able to create movement around the piece of art and using different shapes and lines and it also had some patterns in it. The third table was with paint and crayons and to me that was my best piece as I was able to make it very well layered and make on part of it stand out which was the heart beat and I was also able to use many different textures by using the paint in different ways and also using all the space I had on the piece of paper. The last table had paints and rulers and that was also one of my best as I was able to learn a new technique where I put the paint on the side of the ruler and put it on the piece of paper really fast to create different textures and make the colors look like it was fading away. I also included a message in the background which was the cancer ribbon and I was also able to create movement through the piece of art by using the different lines. I  think that I did quite well in this activity and I was able to improve a lot from last time and create much better abstract pieces of art listening to abstract music in a limited amount of time.

Art Reflection - Lesson 2

In this art lesson we were listening to different pieces of abstract music in the class that the teacher played and there were four different tables. For each different table there were different materials to draw our pieces of art and for each different table there were different pieces of music. So, in the end we had to have four different pieces of art with different mediums to suit the music we heard. I feel like the pieces of art that I did were quite abstract and I was able to use the different  well to put it together and make it look good with using the elements and principles of art. The elements that I used were having different lines and shapes and different colors as well to match the music and the principles that I used were Rhythm, patterns and movement. By having different shapes and colors the viewer is able to move around the art and some of the colors and lines were related to make patterns so the viewer can recognize things and not get confused by seeing different things all the time. The first table had colored papers, glue and scissors and we had to cut the paper out into different shapes to make a piece of art either 3-D or 2-D and I chose to mix it up and in the end it looked quite good and quite abstract. The second table had crayons which I was able to us very well to create many different shapes and contrasts and use a mixture of colors to make the final piece of art full of different things to make it look good and attractive to the eye. The third table which was the table I did best at was with paint and I was able to use different marks and strokes and different pressure to creat a smooth and full of movement piece of art which looked really good in the end and was one of the best. The last table was with color pencils and that was not as easy as I expected and especially because of the song having words and a completely different rhythm it made me confused but in the end it was full of different lines and patterns which stood out along with different layers darker and lighter which made it better. For this activity, from the teacher I received a substantial which is 5-6 going to excellent 7-8 and I found the activity quite fun and with more practice and more experimenting I could do much better in this timed activity to be better at abstract art as well as time management.

Reflection- Art Lesson 1:

In our first lesson of Art we were talking about the sound of art which is the topic for the term and we were talking about what we think of when we hear that phrase and what are the key elements involved in it. We then went on to doing our first task of the term for art which was our title page and we were listening to different pieces of abstract music to come up with ideas for our own art. We then started doing our plan which involved us folding our piece of paper into four different sides and coming up with different ideas in each of them and then at the end to put the plan together to create our final piece of art. With the different pieces of music we heard, I could hear many different things, some of the pieces were peaceful while some of the others were quite fast and had an abstract beat put into it.  For my idea, since there were different kinds of music, I thought that I would have to different themes put into one piece of art where one would be a peaceful side and one would be more of a fast and rock genre. For our title page we had to include things like the key concept, statement of inquiry, global context and obviously the title so we had to fit that into the piece of art into some way. As we were discussing the key elements in the class to make a perfect piece of art, some of the things mentioned were color and patterns and making it look engaging to the eye so I though that I would include some of those elements and make my art look as good as possible. I think that the first lesson of art was quite productive and I was able to learn quite a lot about abstract art elements and what makes it really good.

Art- Title Page Reflection

In our first lesson of art we started to create our own title page for our art book and we started to listen to different pieces of abstract music to create different pictures in our head and apply it onto a rough piece of paper. For me the different abstract music reminded me of two different things which were a more peaceful side of things and a more fast and heavy/rock side of things. That is why in my final piece of art I divided the page in half and the bottom half is the peaceful side and the top half is the rock side. In my piece of art I used a lot of different shapes and colors and there was also a lot of movement around the entire piece of art as the person looking at it would be looking at all the different things that are there. I was also able to fit the information and the title into the art very well  and also making sure to include one instrument and musical notes so I was able to follow the instructions. I think for my first piece of art, I did quite well as I was able to include a lot of elements like space, textures, line and color and also principles like balance, pattern, emphasis and a lot of movement. To improve I could have made the piece of art more layered and also added in more color into the background of the art to make it look even better!

Haunted House Photos

Haunted House Photo 1- Opening the haunted fridge in the attic:
In this photo, I am opening the fridge again to show Kushi that nothing happens when you open it as she got trapped inside it when she opened it and I was looking away at that point. Aman and Amr are the door handles and Prachi, Yuki and Aamnah are the top of the fridge and they use different levels like the blocks to make the fridge look higher. With all of them together it actually looks like you are opening a fridge.

Haunted House Photo 2- Pulling the sheet of the garden ornaments:

In this photo, I am pulling the sheet off the garden ornaments in the garden to show Kushi all the beautiful and antique garden ornaments that are in the house and what she can use. Some of them are
sitting on the floor and some of the are sitting on block and some are inside the blocks to show different levels and to show that they are bigger and that some of them have been left their for a really long time as it is an old house.

Haunted House Photo 3- Kushi seeing the old antique statues moving:

In this photo, I have my back turned to the statues in the attic and all of a sudden they start moving as Kushi is looking at it and she is so shocked with what she has seen and starts to scream as it happens. The statues are all different and they are all sat in different positions and areas of the stage to make it look more realistic and more scary.

Physical Theatre

What is Physical Theatre?
Physical Theatre is a type of theatre where the people performing use more movement and gestures and less dialogue to show a scene.

Examples of Physical Theatre-

In this picture there are 4 people that are trying to show an example of physical theatre where the person on the bottom( David) is being a rocking horse and the two people on the side( Zenia and Yuki), are being the arms/ sides of the rocking horse and the person on the top ( Mehul) is the one going through the house and he sees a rocking horse and sits on it. Since Physical Theatre is a type of theatre where you have to use your body movement to show a scene, we worked as a group to show the audience what object were trying to show with no dialogue and only the body.

Since the house is a haunted house whenever someone sits on the rocking horse, it starts to move by itself backwards and forwards and we were showing that with just our bodies. In this scene every person has moved forward to show that the rocking chair has moved and the character on top has his expression changed to show that he is shocked and scared about something like this and that it could actually happen in real life. Here we also show no dialogue and only expressions and movement with our body and with different gestures to show a scene that the audience could understand.

In this picture we are showing a different scene with the same group of people and now the same person( Mehul) continues to walk around the house and starts to see different types of scary things now. In this scene Mehul walks down a corridor to see different manikins that are all in different poses and are mysteriously rolling his as he continues to walk down the corridor. In this scene also there is no dialogue at all and just body movement to show the scene. As he continues to walk the manikins keep moving their eyes towards the way he is moving to creep him out even more which gets him scared.

As he finishes walking around the manikins and the corridor the manikins are still looking at him mysteriously which gets him really confused and nervous because he has never seen something like that again and it creeps him out as manikins can not actually move on their own and look at people as they are moving. This and the other pictures are ways to show a scene with just body movement and gestures which is what physical theatre is and we were able to present that in class.

Is All Physical Theatre without dialogue/words?
Not all physical theatre is without dialogue or words. Physical Theatre is a type of theatre that does mainly focus on physical movement but it can include words/ dialogue to explain what is going on in the scene better. Physical Theatre can be done with the use of dialogue to broaden the meaning of the performance and it can also be mixed with different kinds of elements like: Dance, Music and Mime.

Physical Theatre Practitioner-
A physical theatre practitioner is someone who practices or has written theatrical theory that is a definable theatrical form. An example of physical theatre practitioner would be DV8 and they are one of the main practitioners of this art form. They mainly look at how movement can bring out the best dramatic potential and their work mainly consists of music, dance and drama also known as a crossroad. They are also very well known for using Physical Theatre to show problems between humans and also social/cultural issues that people have.

What art forms does Physical Theatre combine?
Some of the art form that Physical Theatre combines are :music, dance, and the use of media or visual images. These art forms along with a little bit of dialogue can help show the scene better with showing the audience more meaning rather than just using your body and for them to not understand.

Play Text- Physical Theatre:
You could use Physical Theatre in a performance of a play text such as Romeo and Juliette where you could show their story of love with just a little bit of dialogue and instead more music, body movement and dance where the audience could be able to understand how the story worked just with gestures and mimes. You could also show the performance of play text of Macbeth by showing all the action that happens and the different scenes with just physical movement which would be something very stylish to see.

Things that I did not know-
I actually never knew what Physical Theatre was before and I was so surprised when I heard about it as I never knew that there would be so many different kinds of Drama that you could do and that there were people such as Practitioners that would actually practice the art form and do it as their job to become a professional at it and perform in front of a lot of people. I never knew that you could be able to show Drama with just physical movement and a little bit of dialogue and music or dance.

Reflection for Domestic Violence Video

For our Drama project for Domestic violence, I worked in a group to create an advertisement about Domestic Violence and the people in my group were Me, Zenia and Amr. For our advertisement we decided the characters would be a wife and a husband and they would be watching and advertisement about domestic violence where Amr and Zenia are the husband and wife. Zenia is a famous actor and acts in advertisements and her husband Mehul is a business man and one day when her ad comes on TV she wants to show it to him and when he see's it he gets really angry and thinks that it is really abusive and something bad. They then go to sleep angry.

Mehul then wakes up in a dream after watching that advertisement and in the dream he comes back home from a stressed day at work. He thinks that to remove the stress he would go and drink alcohol. He then gets really drunk and gets angry at his wife for not restocking the fridge even though he drank all of it and threatens to kill her. He starts holding knives towards her and pushing her down to the full her about to kill her when she screams and Mehul wakes up from his dream.

Once Mehul wakes up he starts panting heavily and then when Zenia is sleeping he say's I would never do that to you in a creepy way and then it ends in a fact about the amount of women that die from domestic violence every year.

The main aim for our video was to show people what domestic violence is about and give them knowledge about what really happens. We were also trying to show them that there are feelings inside you eve when you do get drunk or stressed out and you should always make the right decision because if you want to kill your wife then why did you marry her in the first place? We were also trying to show the audience that domestic violence can happen or start because of many different things and can be something that is so quick and deadly.

The different body language that we used was showing fear with our body by backing away when they are getting threatened and also the body language where the husband is kicking the wife and when the ad is going on in the TV and the husband is kicking the wife there as well.

Our group did many things well which were using different elements of Drama like freeze frames and voices in the persons head. We also had really good editing and a really good idea to show the dream and the advertisement inside an advertisement which were both about domestic violence to involve the characters more.

The negatives in our group was that we were not able to manage our time very well and not meet the deadline because of a group member that left the group which meant we had to record everything all over again. Even though that happened we were able to finish the video with characters played twice and better quality with less time.

I think for this Domestic Violence advertisement we did quite well to show our point and how bad it can be and how it can start with really small things and that people should not support it or do it around the world!

For our Drama project, the props that I am going to bring in for the video is a pillow and a blanket. I am bringing these props for the bed scene where me and ameenah are going to be sleeping to make it more obvious and for people to understand what is actually going on. The props will play a big part in the scene as it will be able to show the bed and when we are awake and when we are sleeping. It will also be able to show the part of when I am dreaming and the part of when I am in real life. This prop will helps as it will be able to show some main parts of the story and make people understand the scenes

Drama Y9 Y T2- Lesson 1 News Report Freeze Frames

Freeze Frame 1-
In the first freeze frame we have the soldier witness that saw the shooting happening and he was being questioned about what happened to the wife and husband. The interviewer is asking the questions and also asking her how she felt during the attack. There are also the two fathers, the one on the left for the man and on the right for the woman who both died. The fathers are crying because they can not take in the pain from what happened. The fathers had their hand over the face to show they were crying and the interviewer had mic pointing towards the witness to show that she is asking questions. We were able to use a lot of space by spreading out the seats and also using the space by the interviewer standing up as well as the witness to ask the questions. The setting will be the same throughout all freeze frames since it is in the studio. The still images depict the story by showing that the married couple died and the fathers are in pain and are sad from remembering what happened. You can also see that the witness felt sad as well and especially when the women crawled and died next to her husband.

Freeze Frame 2-
In the second freeze frame we have the interviewer asking the father of the son about how he feels about what had happened and if they deserved what they got and what should be done to the killers. You can also see that the father is getting very emotional and he starts crying and the father of the daughter tries to cheer him up. The soldier witness is sitting up right like soldiers would and the interviewer is standing on the podium to ask the questions and puts her hand out to show that she is asking him. The father is crying to show that he is very sad  and the other father is trying to get him back to normal and knows how sad it was. We used the space and levels by making the interviewer stand up on the podium and all the people sitting on the chairs and are being interviewed. The still images depict the story by showing that the father is really upset and didn't want what happened to happen and that's why he is crying and the other father is supporting him.

Freeze Frame 3-
In the third freeze frame the father of the daughter is being interviewed and is also being asked questions that the other father had been asked and speaks to the audience about how he felt and how if two people love each other the should be allowed to love each other even though they are from two different countries or they are two different religions. The other father is still crying and is really sad and the soldier is starting to get emotional as well. The soldier starts to put his hand on his eyes to show that he is wiping off her tears and the father of the son has his hand covering his face still and now has his back turned to show that he doesn't want the people too see him and he was getting even more sad. The interviewer has her hands out to show that she is asking a question to the father of the daughter. The father of the daughter has his hands up to show that he is angry about what happened. Our group used the space and levels by making the interviewer stand up and come to the father of the daughter  and have the soldier and other father getting into tears.

Freeze Frame 4-
In the last freeze frame the interviewer is ending the news report and the two fathers at the end of it are really sad and the soldier witness is also standing up because she is about to leave. The interviewer had her hands out again to show that she is speaking and to show that she is ending the show. The two fathers were still crying by covering their face with their hand and the soldier is standing up showing that she is ready to leave. We used more space this time by making the father of the son kind of going backstage to show that he wants to leave and he can't take it anymore and we also have the interviewer standing on the block to show that she is ending the show. The still images depict the story by showing that the characters are really sad and what happened should not have happened and who ever killed them should suffer.
